The roof (6) has a vehicle bodywork (2) i.e. trough, and a roof reinforcement (15) formed by a belt-type stiffening element (16) that is fastened at the roof, where the roof is formed in a resiliently flexible manner and made of plastic such as tarpaulin or fabric. The belt-type stiffening element is arranged and secured at an inner side of the roof. A casing i.e. weld, is connected between the roof and the belt-type stiffening element, where the stiffening element is formed as flat belt, fabric or braided fabric. An independent claim is also included for a commercial vehicle.
