A lead-acid battery includes a negative electrode plate containing carbon black, fibrous carbon and graphite in a negative active material thereof. The average primary particle size of the carbon black is 10 nm or more and 120 nm or less, and the content thereof is 0.05% by mass or more and 2.2% by mass or less based on the mass of negative active material. The average length of the fibrous carbon is 1 µm or more, and the content thereof is 0.02% by mass or more and 1.2% by mass or less based on the mass of negative active material. The average particle size of the graphite is 20 µm or more, and the content thereof is 0.02% by mass or more and 2.0% by mass or less based on the mass of negative active material.",
