A seat reclining apparatus for a vehicle includes a first arm (10) including a guide wall (13), a second arm (20) including internal teeth (22) and being rotatably supported by the first arm, a pawl (30) including external teeth (32) which are engageable with and disengageable from the internal teeth, a cam (40) engaging with the pawl for causing the pawl to advance and retract along a guide wall and for causing the internal teeth and the external teeth to mesh with and unmesh from each other as the cam rotates, a recessed portion (23) recessed in a direction of an axis line (O1) of the second arm and including a restricting portion (24), an engaging portion (37) restricting the external teeth and the internal teeth from meshing with each other by being in contact with the restricting portion, a hinge cam (50) including a first shaft portion (51), a second shaft portion (52) and a flange portion (53), and a biasing member (70).
