The invention also relates to a method for controlling at least some of the energy imparted to a vehicle (10) having a collision sensor system during a collision using at least one collision energy absorbing device (20). The collision energy absorbing device (20) comprises a first member (22) in working cooperation with a second member (23). At least the first member (22) is arranged with a surface (30f) adapted to cut, or tear, through a portion of the second member (23) along a first path (P-P) upon a relative displacement. The second member (23) comprises at least one section (31 s) intersecting with the first path (P-P) adapted to provide for a different level of resistance to deformation. The present invention provides for a collision energy absorbing device (20) which can absorb energy imparted to the vehicle (10) in a controlled manner.",
