Charging device for use with electric vehicles and methods of assembling same

A charging device (104) for use with an electric vehicle (102) including a power storage device (106) includes a power delivery system (214) configured to deliver power to the power storage device. The charging device also includes a controller (200) coupled to the power delivery system. The controller is configured to determine that an initialization process has completed after the charging device has experienced a loss of power and enable the power delivery system to deliver power to the power storage device at a defmed start time and after the initialization process has completed.
