A vehicular brake apparatus (11) includes a fluid pressure sensor (38) for detecting a master cylinder pressure (Pmc) or a wheel cylinder pressure, a negative pressure estimator (26) for calculating an estimated value (”PmpE) of a negative pressure of a negative-pressure-type booster (20) based on the master cylinder pressure (Pmc) or the wheel cylinder pressure which is detected by the fluid pressure sensor (38), and a malfunction detector (26) for detecting a malfunction of a negative pressure sensor (40) by comparing the estimated value (”PmpE) of the negative pressure estimated by the negative pressure estimator (26) and a detected value (”PmpS) of the negative pressure detected by the negative pressure sensor (40) with each other.
