Charged internal combustion engine and method to operate such an engine

The engine (1) has two turbochargers (8,9) and two cylinders (3). Each cylinder is provided with two gas outlet openings (4a,4b) to which exhaust pipes (5a,5b) are connected respectively. The exhaust pipes (5a) connected to two cylinders, are merged at primary exhaust manifold (6a) to form overall exhaust gas line (7a). The exhaust pipes (5b) connected to two cylinders, are merged at secondary exhaust manifold (6b) to form overall exhaust gas line (7b). The primary and secondary exhaust manifolds are provided at upstream of two turbines (8a,9a) of turbochargers respectively. An independent claim is included for method for operating supercharged internal combustion engine.
