Landmark icons in digital maps

The present invention relates to a method for graphically representing a physical object in a digital map used by a navigation system comprising: displaying at least a part of the digital map and either displaying a three-dimensional graphical object representing the physical object or a two-dimensional graphical object representing the physical object depending on a location of the physical object.
