A method for preparing a positive electrode material and related products are disclosed. The method includes mixing a lithium source with a phosphoric acid solution to form a first mixture; combining the first mixture with manganese hydrogen phosphate, an iron source, and optionally a source of an M element to form a second mixture; and drying and sintering the second mixture to obtain a lithium manganese iron phosphate (LMFP) positive electrode material. The M element is selected from transition metals other than manganese and iron, Group IIA metals, Group IIIA metals, Group IVA metals, and Group VIIA elements. The resulting LMFP material exhibits reduced gas and by-product generation, increased compacted density, lowered resistivity, and improved specific capacity and rate performance, making it suitable for positive electrode plates, batteries, and electric apparatuses.
