SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR OPERATING A WIRELESS POWER TRANSFER SYSTEM

Systems and methods are described herein for facilitating the switching of a power transfer direction in wireless power transfer systems. A ground unit comprises: one or more power transfer coils configured for providing wireless power transfer on an inductive power transfer frequency band; one or more positioning coils configured to emit position data suitable for detection, measuring or sensing by, the vehicle; and one or more communication antennas configured to communicate with the vehicle by way of a bidirectional communication channel; wherein the bidirectional communication channel operates on a frequency band which is different to the inductive power transfer frequency band.
