AN APPARATUS AND A METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING AN ELECTRODE ASSEMBLY BY STACKING AND FOLDING, AND AN ELECTRODE ASSEMBLY MANUFACTURED EITHER BY THE APPARATUS OR THE METHOD

An apparatus for manufacturing an electrode assembly by stacking and folding includes a transfer unit conf igued to pick a respective one of a plurality of unit electrode cells and sequentially arrange on a longitudinal separator. The apparatus further includes a folding unit conf igured to fold the separatorhaving the plurality of unit electrode cells sequentially arranged thereon, along a longitudinal direction of the separator, thereby forming a folded stack cell, and at least one sealer conf igured for being applied to a side of the folded stack cell at which folded parts of the separator are exposed, wherein the sealer is conf igured to compress the exposed folded parts of the separator by exerting pressure on opposite sides thereof.
