Disclosed are a pouch-shaped secondary battery pressing apparatus and a pouch-shaped secondary battery pressing method using the same, and more particularly a pouch-shaped secondary battery pressing apparatus for pressing a pouch-shaped secondary battery, the pouch-shaped secondary battery including a battery case having a pocket portion to receive an electrode assembly and an extension portion to capture gas generated in an activation step, the pouch-shaped secondary battery pressing apparatus including a pair of pressing plates located so as to face one surface and the other surface of the pocket portion of the battery case and a pair of auxiliary plates located so as to face one surface and the other surface of the extension portion of the battery case, and a pouch-shaped secondary battery pressing method using the same.
