Loads on the extended step are borne by supports fixed to the vehicle, and not by the power transmission components. The step is extended and retracted along the inclined linear path in response to rotation of a motor shaft in a first direction to extend the step and rotation of the motor shaft in an opposite direction during retraction, ensure smooth and reliable operation. In addition, extension and retraction of the step can be controlled through a mobile app or Infotainment system interface, via an electronic control unit of the vehicle.",
