At least one example is a computer-implemented method of generating comprehensive maps for route guidance, the method comprising: determining, by the computing device, a trigger event occurred; determining, by an application executed on the computing device, an initial location of the computing device; sending, by the application executed on the computing device, to a server an indication of the initial location of the computing device; receiving, by the computing device from the server, a map comprising a floorplan including at least the initial location and a plurality of locations; and presenting, by the application executed on the computing device, the map on a display.
