July 24, 2025
An example vehicle control system includes a plurality of sensors, a driver monitoring system, a human-machine interface configured to provide at least one of a visual alert, a haptic alert and an audio alert to the driver, and a vehicle control module configured to identify at least one occluded region based on the plurality of sensors, determine a predicted trajectory of the vehicle, score the at least one occluded region based on importance of the at least one occluded region to the predicted trajectory of the vehicle, determine a driver attention direction based on detection of the at least one of a gaze direction and a head orientation of the driver of the vehicle, and generate an occluded region alert based on the score of the at least one occluded region and the driver attention direction.
