Occupation detection device for detecting whether a motor vehicle seat is occupied

The occupancy detection device comprises a mechanical pressure sensor (7), which is arranged in a recess (2) at the lower side of a cushion core (1) opposite to the seated. The recess comprises a bottom surface (6) having a size, which is equal to the size of the pressure sensor. The pressure sensor is covered by a bearing plate. An intermediate layer (5) is inserted between the bottom surface of the recess and the pressure sensor. The intermediate layer is made of foam material. An insulating layer is provided, which is made of thermoplastic elastomer or ethylene propylene diene monomer.
