The illumination device comprises a transparent light guide (2) with a coupling area, and a coupling surface (7) for coupling light into the light guide. A decoupling area (4) is provided for decoupling light from the light guide by a decoupling surface (10). A main radiation direction (12) is provided, which is starting from a reflection surface (6) directed away to the light guide.
