The present invention relates to a method of making a cathode (16) for a battery (10), the method comprising: forming a slurry comprising iron disulfide and a solvent; applying the slurry to a substrate having a first side and a second side opposite the first side; drying the slurry to form a cathode material supported by the substrate; wherein at least one of the first side and the second side of the substrate supports more than 21.5 milligrams of the cathode material per square centimeter of the first side and/or the second side, characterized in that the slurry comprises solvent selected from the group consisting of aromatic hydrocarbons, aliphatic hydrocarbons, and N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone
