The battery can includes a first side, a second side opposite the first side, a bottom portion, a top cover portion opposite the bottom portion, and at least two electrode stacks. The top cover portion includes an anode terminal, and a cathode terminal. Each of the anode terminal and the cathode terminal extend through the top cover portion of the battery can. Each of the at least two electrode stacks include a first electrode stack, and a second electrode stack, which are both disposed within the internal volume defined by the battery can in a vertically stacked arrangement. A thermal barrier plate may be disposed between the first and second electrode stacks.",
