Method for contact-free measurement

The method involves determining a fixed measuring position in a container (21). The distance between the fixed measuring position and an upper edge (1) of the open container, is measured at multiple measuring points (40) along the container circumference. The coordinates of the measurement points are calculated, based on the measured distances. An independent claim is also included for a device for contactless measurement of an upper edge of an upwardly open container.
