Integrated electric meter with VAR capability

An integrated electric meter with VAR capability is disclosed. In one aspect, an electric meter (200) determines a plurality of power related parameters for an AC network, and a VAR generation unit (205) integrated with the electric meter (200) uses the plurality of power related parameters to inject a desired amount of reactive power in the AC network and correct power factor.
