Assembly with two independent turbochargers for combustion engines and method for operating two turbochargers
DRIVE
June 20, 2012
The arrangement has cylinder banks (10a, 10b) with two turbochargers (14a, 14b), which are independent of each other. The turbochargers are supplied with air that is filtered by clean air filters (16a, 16b) via two clean air pipelines (18a, 18b). A unit e.g. crosstalk pipe (24) or air collecting container, causes pressure compensation between the air in the clean air pipelines. The crosstalk pipe enables transfer of air from one of the clean air pipelines to the other pipeline. The crosstalk pipe couples the clean air pipelines together and creates fluidic connection between the pipelines. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating two turbochargers in an internal combustion engine arrangement.
