The air filter (1) has a folding pack (3) and a frame (7) partially surrounding the folding pack. The frame has a recess (8) for a projection of a housing for the air filter. The recess is formed such that the projection penetrates an edge towards the folding pack. The frame has an outer limiting surface (9). An independent claim is also included for a housing with a rod for accommodating an air filter.
