The compressed air supply unit (31) has a multi-circuit protection device (200) that includes a safety valve (117) with which a pneumatic control input (41) is pneumatically actuated. The solenoid valves (105,106) of the protection device are controlled based on an electrical signal from the control input. The compressed air outlets (121,122) are opened according to operation of the solenoid valves. An independent claim is included for method for controlling compressed air supply unit.
