Disclosed is a method for producing a higher output in an alkaline fuel cell that utilizes an electrolyte membrane comprising an anion exchange membrane, compared to the outputs produced in the conventional alkaline fuel cells. Specifically disclosed is a power generation system which utilizes an alkaline fuel cell that comprises an electrolyte membrane comprising an anion exchange membrane and a pair of electrodes (an anode and a cathode) arranged on the both sides of the electrolyte membrane, wherein the alkaline fuel cell can generate an electric power by supplying a fuel gas and an oxidizer gas to the anode side and the cathode side, respectively. The power generation system is characterized by using a hydrogen gas containing a basic compound such as ammonia as the fuel gas to be supplied to the anode side.
