Method and device for starting a combustion engine

The device (1) has a pump (3) i.e. gear pump, provided with a suction terminal (3a) and a pressure connector (3b), and mechanically connected with an internal combustion engine. The pressure connector is in fluid connection with a fluid storage unit (2) over a fluid conduit (8). A control unit (17) is connected with a valve (10) for providing fluid connection between the fluid storage unit and the pressure connector before starting the engine, so that the pump is rotated in a rearward directed driving direction to rotate a piston (12) of the engine in a rearward directed direction.
