The proposed invention is related to differential device with controllable torque distribution by a control system which takes into account compares the steering wheel angle and the yaw rate of a vehicle and determines the torque distribution to the driving wheels that is required in order to improve the driving behavior and vehicle handling. When no torque is being imposed by the control system to the driveshafts, the new differential device operates as an open differential and no energy is either produced or consumed. During the imposition of higher torque amount to the internal wheel, energy is produced and stored and the behavior of the new differential device is similar to the limited slip differentials. Furthermore, the new differential device gives the option of imposing larger torque amounts to the external wheel. During this operation the stored energy is consumed.
