The ship (10) has a longitudinal propulsion chain (14) comprising longitudinal propellers (34) e.g. port or starboard propellers, to move the ship along a longitudinal direction (X). Electric motors (36) e.g. synchronous or asynchronous motors, drive the propellers. A power supply system (38) is connected to an electric network (12). An additional power system (40) supplies power to the motors, and is connected to the motors by a main switching device (42). The device connects one of the motors to a single power outlet (50) of the additional power supply system.
