Production of oxygen-consuming electrode involves forming a gas-diffusion layer and a silver-based catalyst-containing layer on an electroconductive support. The silver-based catalyst-containing layer is obtained by coating aqueous solution obtained by dissolving silver oxide precursor in aqueous electrolyte and containing pH of less than 8.
