An identification interface (3) is connected between power supply (2) and load (1). A serial stream of data having a bit pattern representing the operation of load is transmitted during an identification mode generated by identification interface by inputting operating voltage, so that supply voltage is supplied to load. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) arrangement for supplying load with supply voltage; (2) identification interface; and (3) power supply.
