The motor vehicle (10) has a battery (14) for supplying electric current an electric drive (12), and a different unit is provided for charging the battery, where a control unit (22) is designed for controlling the unit. The control unit is coupled to a navigation device of the motor vehicle for receiving the data, particularly destination data and route data from the navigation device. An independent claim is also included for a device operating method for charging a battery in a motor vehicle.
