A secondary shaft (6) is connected to the primary shaft via an initial ratio coupler (9) and the final ratio coupler. The unit includes a generating unit (19) for generating a clutch torque set point and an open loop torque set point of the final ratio coupler. A data recovery module (18) calculates a closed loop torque set point of the final ratio coupler. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling upward gear shifting of a stepped-ratio gearbox.",
