Industrial truck having an electrical propulsion drive

The lorry has a controller (20) switching an electrical drive e.g. electrical traction motor (14) such as three-phase induction motor, into a generator operation to brake the lorry. An eddy current brake (16) is controlled or regulated by the controller depending on rotation speed of the electrical drive during the generator operation. The controller dynamically provides a reference value for braking torque to be generated by the brake. The controller detects battery voltage arising in the generator operation, and compares the battery voltage with a predetermined maximum value.
