The fossil fired-power plant (1) comprises a separating device (2) permeable by carbon dioxide-containing exhaust gas and arranged downstream a combustion device. The separating device has an absorption unit (3) and a desorption unit (4). The desorption unit is connected with a renewable energy source (5). The renewable energy source is a solar thermal energy system, and comprises a solar panel (7). An independent claim is also included for a method for separating carbon dioxide from an exhaust gas of a fossil-fired power plant.
