A system (10) for generating electrical power is described. The system (10) comprises a turbine (11) that is mechanically connected to a generator (12), wherein the generator (12) is electrically connected via a first converter (13) to a load (15). The first converter (13) generates a first output current (I1). A second output current is generated by a second converter (17) and is added to the first output current (I1). The second output current is generated such that an actual current (Iact) over the load (15) follows a desired current (Ides).
