A vehicle mounted display system includes: a forward information acquisition section configured to acquire forward information; a preceding vehicle information acquisition section configured to acquire preceding vehicle information; a position estimation section configured to estimate a position of one eye of a viewer; and a picture projection section configured to generate a light beam including picture information including a display object, and to project the light beam toward the one eye. The picture projection section estimates a view image of the viewer viewing the course ahead of the self-vehicle, and the picture projection section includes a picture data generation section configured to generate the display object. Thus, there are provided a monocular vehicle mounted display system, display method, and vehicle in which a display object indicating the course is perceived at a prescribed position farther than the preceding vehicle.
