A circuit for powering a remote device comprises an inverter operating at the operating frequency, a tank circuit including a capacitor and an inductor for transferring power to the remote device and a phase comparator. The phase comparator compares the phase of the voltage supplies to the tank circuit with the phase of the voltage between the capacitor and the inductor of the tank circuit. It provides an output to a disabling means for disabling the inverter. The disabling means disables the inverter based upon the output of the phase comparator.
