A rechargeable battery (100) including a case (140); a cap plate (151) on the case; a terminal post (122) protruding from the cap plate (151); a terminal plate (123) coupled to the terminal post (122), wherein the terminal plate (123) includes a body having an opening; and a conductor (124) within the opening and coupled to the body, wherein the conductor (124) substantially surrounds a circumference of the terminal post (122).
