Collapsible roof for a passenger vehicle

The roof (12) has a roof cap (16) comprising a set of ribs that are spaced apart from one another in a longitudinal direction, where each rib extends along a transverse direction. An impact energy absorbing protective device is connected to the roof cap, where the ribs extend into the protective device. A folding top structure (Vs) is connected to a cover (14) and configured to move with the cover between closed and opened positions, where the roof cap is part of the top structure. The protective device extends over length of the cap in the longitudinal and transverse directions.
