The device (1) has a lifting device for moving a vehicle in a dragging operation portion of a vehicle treatment system relative to a conveying belt (2) along a lifting direction such that wheels of the vehicle are in external contact with the belt. An attachment roller (4) moves the vehicle over the dragging operation portion using the rolling wheels of the vehicle. The belt has belt strands (21-23) arranged at distance to a slot (24) and another slot, where the slots extend along a conveying direction (F). The strands are actively connected with each other by a coupling unit. An independent claim is also included for a method for transporting a vehicle through a vehicle treatment system.
