Heat exchanger and method for operating and manufacturing same

The heat exchanger (330) has two opposing plastic surfaces (102,202) in which openings are formed. A metallic pipe (435) is connected to circular edges of the openings such that the pipe is located between the plastic surfaces to hold the lithium ion battery (220). The pipe has a portion whose resilient curvature is set such that battery holding surface of pipe bends along inward direction. The internal diameter of pipe portion having resilient curvature is smaller than outer diameter of battery so that thermal contact is established between pipe and battery. An independent claim is included for manufacturing method of heat exchanger for cooling lithium ion battery.
