Functionalized materials by catalyzed carbene copolymerization

The present invention relates to a copolymer having the general formula: €ƒ€ƒ€ƒ€ƒ€ƒ€ƒ€ƒ€ƒ (5CHR 1 )5 n €ƒ€ƒ€ƒ€ƒ€ƒFormula 1 wherein the copolymer comprises a chain of n carbon atoms, each carbon atom bearing a R 1 group, each R 1 group being independently selected from the group consisting of: -H and hydrocarbyl-groups having between 1 and 50 carbon atoms and optionally one or more hetero atoms, and wherein the copolymer comprises at least two different R 1 groups, and wherein n is an integer ranging from 50 to 1000000. The present invention also relates to a method for preparing such copolymers.
