Spring and damper component

The assembly has a piston rod (1) loaded outward from a cylinder using gaseous medium through an axial opening of the cylinder. An actuator activates a front flap by a sensor device in a pedestrian protection situation. The piston rod, the cylinder or an associated component is limited to be axially adjustable opposite a supporting piece (2) between stoppers. A ball head or ball joint (6) is indirectly connected with the piston rod or the cylinder. A joint socket (7) is formed in ring shape in an axial direction. A ball (3) is axially adjustable in the joint socket.
