The restraining strap device connects the cladding element to a structural element of the motor vehicle, and comprises a strap and two insert parts that are arranged at the two opposite ends of the strap. End portions of the strap are folded around in a direction of the center of the strap such that an insert part is received between two layers of the strap. Recesses are provided in the two layers of the strap and the insert part. The recesses lie above one another such that in each case a connection element is guidable through the two layers of the strap and the insert part in order to connect the respective end of the restraining strap device to the cladding element or the structural element.",
