The flow battery includes a diverter to an external source of electrolyte as well as a tank seal located at the base of either charged tank that is operable to prevent electrolyte from exiting the tanks during refueling operations. The flow battery may also include a liquid detector operable to measure the amount of electrolyte being deposited into the tanks during refueling.",
