GRAPHENE BASED ADSORBENT MATERIAL FOR EVAP CANISTER USED IN A VEHICLE EMISSIONS MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

DRIVE April 16, 2026
Source
A vehicle evaporative emissions control system for an automobile with an engine having an evaporative canister coupled to a fuel tank, the canister having a vapor inlet and purge outlet. An adsorbent bed within the canister is formed from a polystyrene-divinylbenzene (PS-DVB) or a functionalized PS-DVB derivative. The adsorbent bed is configured to adsorb fuel vapors when the engine is not running and to release the vapors to an intake system during a purge when the engine is running. The evaporative canister further includes end regions each carrying a felt compaction layer, a volume-compensating foam element, and an adsorbent bed positioned between the felt layers and on at least one side of the foam element and formed as any one of beads, pellets, extrudates, or monolith segments.
