Sealing assembly

A sealing assembly 12 is provided for sealing against a component 4. The sealing assembly 12 comprises a seal carrier 16 and an continuous seal element 18 that is attached to the seal carrier 16 at at least two discrete positions of attachment. The seal element 18 is provided with a sealing surface 28 that is arranged to seal against the component 4. The seal element 18 is further provided with a thermal expansion slot 34, 36 that is located between the discrete positions of attachment and which extends from a first edge of the seal element over a portion of the width of the seal element 18. This allows the seal carrier 16 and seal element 18 to thermally expand in the length direction at different rates.
