Hybrid cord in a belt ply for a pneumatic tire

A pneumatic tire comprising a carcass reinforced by at least one carcass ply (12) and at least one belt ply (24) disposed radially outward of the carcass ply (12) in a crown portion of the pneumatic tire (10) is disclosed. The belt ply comprises at least one composite cord (30) having at least one first filament or yarn (34, 132) and at least one metallic filament (32, 134) wrapped together, the at least one first filament or yarn (34, 132) having a Young's modulus at room temperature less than the Young's modulus at room temperature of the at least one metallic filament (32, 134).
