Adjustable item of furniture with a switch assembly for activating an electrically actuated adjustment device

The adjustable furniture has a switching arrangement for switching an electrically actuated adjusting unit (7). The adjusting unit is connected with connections for an electrical mains power supply over a controllable switch. An auxiliary power supply unit is provided, which is formed by a capacitor (10) and a voltage limiting element. The capacitor and the voltage limiting element are connected with the connections over a rectifier circuit (6) and over resistors (11,12).
