The biopile intended to be immersed in a liquid medium containing sugar and oxygen, comprises an anode (A) comprising an enzyme capable of catalyzing the oxidation of sugar and a redox mediator of low redox potential capable of exchanging electrons with the enzyme anode, and a cathode (K) comprising an enzyme capable of catalyzing the reduction of oxygen and a redox mediator of high redox potential capable of exchanging electrons with the enzyme cathode. Each anode and cathode consists of a solid cluster of a conductive material mixed with the enzyme and the appropriate redox mediator. The conductive material is graphite or a conductive polymer.
